Time to leave our beloved cajun country. An early start with a short stop on the West side of New Orleans to do a little shopping at the new Cabelas Store (1 hr & 2 shirts). As we continued our driving on the East of New Orleans we could see what Katrina did 5 years ago. Still a lot of homes that havn't been rebuilt. Strip Malls & cleared lots still haven't been rebuilt. The roads were in good shape. As we approached the Bay of St Louis, Gulfport & Beloxi we could see the signs of Katrina.
The beaches have all been reclaimed as the photos depict. The roads, "Beach Blvd. has reen repaved...23 miles of beautiful beaches. New side walks & parking area. Hardly a person was out on the beach. (why?)
Looking on the left side of Beach Blvd where once stood great Southern homes & plantation homes there are many vacant lots.
Many are foresale. Many homes have been rebuilt.
Pat & I made a trip to here in 2004. We enjoyed our time then at the President's Casino which no longer exists in Gulport. Washed into the Gulf.
A fishing habor near Gulfport. We have elected to spent two days at the Hollywood Casino in the Bay of St Louis.
Until next time wish you were here! Casino luck & Mobile, Al.
