Yes it finally happened. We have now been on the road 12 days. All is going well, visted with family & friends along the way. Learned a lot of news; made changes to our phone & internet services. From this point forward we should be able to make posts on a regular basis. Still have to learn how to include making photo post to the blog that I can contol the posting. Will overcome and get the hang of it.
Arrived at my son Dan's home in Riverside, Saturday mornining in time to spent Super Bowl weekend there. Dan & Karen had our son John & family there in time for the game on Sunday. A get together with and close friends couldn't be better. Dined on sub sandwitches & venison appiters by friend Jim. Photo follows of Dan's home & the gang.
The Dutch Star received it's annual service in Redlands. While the service was taking place Pat & I enjoyed lunch & visit with sister Jodell & brother-inlaw Murf.
A free boondock camping that night at the Casino in Cabazon.
Next stop Indio. For reason to visit old Farm Credit friends, soak up some son & see how Indio has grown.
Able to visit with FC Rosemary Rios...Rosemary brought me up to date with many people I had worked with. While in the FC Office Coleman Anderson called...a good visit with Coleman...the best to you Coleman. Contacted Greg Raumin by phone. Greg & family are doing well...now in the date & citrus business. I have the email addresses of the above. If you would like there email address email me.
My has the Indio area grown in the last 20 years. Gated retirement development projects all over the Coachella Valley. Same hard economic conditions taking place. A warm day so we took the time to walk the Living Dersert Museums in Palm Desert. A must to see when you are in Palm Desert. Photos follow of the Museum.
On to El Centro with an overnight stay at their fairground. Talked to manager of the RV Park. Hard times really taking place in the Valley. Many businesses have closed; high unemployment. Over 1,000 brand new unsold houses are vacant. A bright spot here is the geothermal steam generating plants expanding.
On to Yuma where we able to park at our good friends Bob & JoAnn Martini RV lot in the Yuma Foothills. We purchased our Dutch Star from them. They took us to Yuma's open Air Market Place. Many snowbirds are in Yuma at this time. I think Yuma get's our vote over Ouartzsite hands down. Clean & a lot to do. Saturday was a day of rain. We learned a lot of new card games from Bob & JoAnn. Many thanks to Bob & JoAnn.
Arrived Sunday afternoon at the Pinal County Fairgrounds here in Casa Grande. Will be here for 5 days to attend the Gypsy RV Rally...which will be our next Post. Wish you could be here...See ya down the road. Roger & Pat
