Titan Missle Muesum Early Sunday morning we were on our way 25 miles South of Tucon to the Muesum. The Titan Missle Silos were constructed during the Cold...three in the US & serval around the world to protect our freedom. An interesting tour where you get to go down inside the chambers of the silo. Talk about security...they had. 2 air force people were in the silo 24/7. Only our president could give the launch orders. A few photos are included for your viewing.

Back from the Biosphere
I am slowly getting the sense of how to manage this blogger...it's going to take me some time. On our return from the Biosphere to Tucson we able to view how Tucson has grown on the North East side. Modern /Box/Type shopping centers on almost every corner. Many developments & lots of new homes. The news media has told us 1 in every 182 Az homes is in a foreclosure. When I was trucking & hauling copper plates out of Globe there were no developments out here. That was 10 years ago.
Our next stop this afternoon was on the grounds of Arizona University; " Flandrau Science Center". Able to take in a Lunar Landing on Mars in their theater in the Round. Photo is one I took on the moon landing. A great show. We were in impressed with their campus.
A lot to see here in Tucson. Was able to purchase a coupon book that gives you a 2 addmission for the price of one. This is one of our educational stops...two more days of learning.
Thats all for now.

On to Tucson on Friday 13Th

Well we left the rally in Casa Grande around 9:30 AM bound for Sagaro National Park directed by our Garman GPS. We arrived at the park in good order. At the vistor center while checking in we had a small world experience happen. We met our good friends from Santa Fe, New Mexic0: Darla & George Cox that were on trip to India in 2006. Had a nice visit with them. Whow what views from the vistor center of the Sargaro Cactus on the mountain sides. Sargaros live to be well over 200 years of age & don't start growing arms until at least 50 years of age. Bats play and important role in their reproductive process. Well worth your time to visit this park.
We left the park at noon & 0ur Garman seemed confused. No this couldn't happen. So we followed her down the highway thinking we were only 5 miles away from Desert Trails RV park where we elected to stay while in Tucson. Turning a 65 foot rig around on a two lane road is no fund. Well in another hour we arrived at the RV Park. Only to learn we were 1 week ahead of our reservation with no hookups available...so we took a dry camp site. It all worked out on Friday the 13th.
Saturday morning we on our way to Biosphere 2 about 50 miles NE of Tucson on the way to Globe, AZ. Biosphere was constructed by a MR. Bass from Texas to find out of humans could survice in there own little earth. So they locked in the sphere 8 people to live there for two years. They surviced on the food they produced. There was no communication from the outside world. Another thing there was no paper there including toilet paper. This occurred in 1991-92.They have never got back together again for a reuion...I wondered why?

Gyost Gathering Rally, Casa Grande, AZ
After a day & night of rain we arrived at the Pinal County Fairgrounds in Casa Grande, Az. Along with another 156 RVs. Nick Russell the host greeted us at the gate and said follow the volunteer parking crew that will park you. Spaces are in the dirt; we consisdered our selfselves lucky not to be parked in puddles of standing water & mud.
This was Sunday and the final day of a gourd festival that was going on before our rally started on Monday. Many gourd artists had their decorated gourds on sale. Didn't know you could decorate a gourd in so many ways. An interesting thing for me was the young farmer that had undecordated gourds foresale whose last name was, "Werutz". Was able to visit with him & I knew two of his uncles: Vern & Horward; both still alive & doing well.
Monday afternoon our rally started. Nick & Terry are full time RVers that put on two rallys a year. One in the West & one in the East US. Nicks aka as, "bad Nick" is the MC...wife Miss Terry is the organizer. Nick is a retired newspaper man who still writes a paper for RVers. We attended several of the rally seminars from photograhy to the final chapter. Each evening there were door prizes and I mean a bunch. My lucky winning was quilt patches. Good friend of mine is Barbara Cozby; Barbara I am saving the patches for you. Thursday was the rally highlight; a pizza dinner then the: Cactus Queen Contest...boy did we have the belly laughs. Hope my photos will post. Had a good time at the rally.
Nick promised that next year's rally will be held at a better fairground. We did have problems but they were over come. Mud, no water for a day & electrical problems. Total cost for the rally & parking fees cost $123...what a barigan.
Casa Grande now with a population of 40,000. It's been 10 years since I was in Casa Grande loading a truck load of seed oats bound for Italy. Then Casa Grande was a small farming town of farmers & farm labors. Now every thing you need is here from the large box stores, outlet malls,
golf courses and many snowbirds. What a nice place to winter. We drove thru the: Palm Creek RV Resort" a beautiful resort with over a 500 sites. Runs about $1,000 a month for a space with a 3 par golf course and a full line of other activities.
Well we have moved on...next time Tucson. Read about our GPS experience and meeting up with travel friends from our trip to India.
Now I am going to try & include some photos.
Until next wish you were here: See ya down the road. Roger

WE ARE ON OUR WAY
Yes it finally happened. We have now been on the road 12 days. All is going well, visted with family & friends along the way. Learned a lot of news; made changes to our phone & internet services. From this point forward we should be able to make posts on a regular basis. Still have to learn how to include making photo post to the blog that I can contol the posting. Will overcome and get the hang of it.
Arrived at my son Dan's home in Riverside, Saturday mornining in time to spent Super Bowl weekend there. Dan & Karen had our son John & family there in time for the game on Sunday. A get together with and close friends couldn't be better. Dined on sub sandwitches & venison appiters by friend Jim. Photo follows of Dan's home & the gang.
The Dutch Star received it's annual service in Redlands. While the service was taking place Pat & I enjoyed lunch & visit with sister Jodell & brother-inlaw Murf.
A free boondock camping that night at the Casino in Cabazon.
Next stop Indio. For reason to visit old Farm Credit friends, soak up some son & see how Indio has grown.
Able to visit with FC Rosemary Rios...Rosemary brought me up to date with many people I had worked with. While in the FC Office Coleman Anderson called...a good visit with Coleman...the best to you Coleman. Contacted Greg Raumin by phone. Greg & family are doing well...now in the date & citrus business. I have the email addresses of the above. If you would like there email address email me.
My has the Indio area grown in the last 20 years. Gated retirement development projects all over the Coachella Valley. Same hard economic conditions taking place. A warm day so we took the time to walk the Living Dersert Museums in Palm Desert. A must to see when you are in Palm Desert. Photos follow of the Museum.
On to El Centro with an overnight stay at their fairground. Talked to manager of the RV Park. Hard times really taking place in the Valley. Many businesses have closed; high unemployment. Over 1,000 brand new unsold houses are vacant. A bright spot here is the geothermal steam generating plants expanding.
On to Yuma where we able to park at our good friends Bob & JoAnn Martini RV lot in the Yuma Foothills. We purchased our Dutch Star from them. They took us to Yuma's open Air Market Place. Many snowbirds are in Yuma at this time. I think Yuma get's our vote over Ouartzsite hands down. Clean & a lot to do. Saturday was a day of rain. We learned a lot of new card games from Bob & JoAnn. Many thanks to Bob & JoAnn.
Arrived Sunday afternoon at the Pinal County Fairgrounds here in Casa Grande. Will be here for 5 days to attend the Gypsy RV Rally...which will be our next Post. Wish you could be here...See ya down the road. Roger & Pat
